The database is a result of a classroom workshop on webscraping of structured text data. The file entries were extracted from the East Asia Department at Staatsbibliothek Berlin which are based on lists created by Rudolf Hartmann.
Research Objectives
Webscraping of structured text data via python as well as data extraction and text mining. Extracted data is used for analysis of Meiji-period biographies of Japanese exchange students to Germany.
